参考答案:
Hi Worried:
I’m sorry to know that you’re having such a bad time at the moment. The truth is everyone will have one of those periods when things seem to be wrong, so you don’t have to worry so much. The important thing is to learn to control your temper so that you may not do or say anything you’ll regret. Here are three useful tips:
First, talk to someone you trust about how you feel. This is a good way of letting your anger out without hurting others or yourself. Second, go outdoors and play team games with your friends,as physical exercise is an effective way to get rid of anger .And third, remain optimistic about your future. Such a positive attitude towards life can be helpful in lifting your spirits.
I hope you’ll soon feel calmer and carry on as normal.
Yours,
Li Hua

The process of growing up is complex for every person, for there are many influential factors in a person’s growth as well as the development of his personality.
参考答案:
One possible version
Tracking My Growth
The process of growing up is complex for every person, for there are many influential factors in a person’s growth as well as the development of his personality. As for me, what has affected me most in my both growth and personality are family and friends, the two equally important factors.
After one is born, the first surroundings is the family in which he will grow up. Family plays a significant role in shaping children’s character because it’s children’s most direct source of knowledge and experiences. Those who are brought up in good families tend to possess many pleasant characters and vice versa.
On the other hand, friends in some ways influence him more rapidly than families do. Friends have many different opinions and personalities. Discussing with them builds up his personality. Frankly speaking, I get lots of valuable things from my friends.
Family offers me warmth and care. Friends give me strength and horizons. Therefore, both of them are most influential in my growth.
三、 阅读理解
20. Glenn Rivers sensed something was different the moment he skipped into his grandmother’s house.
It was suppertime, and his father, Grady Rivers, a longtime Chicago police officer, was there. The father, who was scheduled to be on duty, never missed a day of work. Yet there he was, sitting in a chair in full uniform.
As Rivers inched closer, he saw his father was sobbing.
“I had never seen my dad cry before,” Glenn says. “My grandfather was crying too.”
The puzzled first-grader tried to piece together what had left his family so broken. He was told someone was killed. Panicked, he began to count heads in the house. Was it a member of the family? A friend up the street?
Grady took him by the hand and drove home in his car.
“And that’s when he told me all about this Dr. King guy,” Glenn says. “It was the first time I had ever heard of Martin Luther King.”
On that day, April 4, 1968, Grady Rivers tried to tell his son what Marlin Luther King had done to advance civil rights, to fight for racial equality, by using words, not violence, to bring about change.
And now he was dead in a hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 39. From that day forward, Dr. King became a Rivers family companion, his words echoing (回响) the teachable moments. King’s speeches were repeatedly played on the family record player, his booming voice weaving itself into the family story.
“Naturally, as a young kid you are curious,” Grady says. “Dr. King became an extremely important part of my life. He became our Gandhi (a civil right leader of India), in many ways.”
Grady Rivers would shine the headlights of his car, so the boys could play baseball at night. Their neighborhood was filled with violence and poverty, and so many of Glenn’s friends grew up without a father, but they found a substitute in the kind yet firm policeman who told his own two boys they’d have to share him.
There were two things Grady never talked about - his service in the Korean War and what he saw on the streets of Chicago.
“It was a hard time,” Glenn recalls. “So much racial tension … but we didn’t hear one word about it.”
